The Startup Challenge is now in its third edition since 2023, drawing around 200 startup applications and producing 48 proof-of-concept projects with more than 100 Tüpraş employees involved. Selected startups build a PoC with Tüpraş teams, and a strong result can lead to a customer relationship or, through the separate Tüpraş Ventures arm, an equity investment; Tüpraş Ventures has made five direct and 44 indirect startup investments to date. Focus areas span IoT and sensors, robotics, renewable energy efficiency, wastewater management and cybersecurity.

Headsets enable communication in high noise
Tupras piloted Mobilus Labs' bone conduction headsets at its Izmit refinery, letting workers communicate through hearing protection and full face masks above 100 decibels.
