Bernal is JR West Group's business co-creation programme run with its venture capital arm, JR West Innovations. Selected startups form a joint team with JR West employees and spend 10 months on joint verification toward commercialisation, with a review panel deciding whether to launch the business and JR West Innovations able to make a capital investment. Applications go through a dedicated online application platform.
