BHP's Supplier Innovation Program puts business challenges to Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) suppliers in a hackathon-style pitch format instead of a standard tender. The winning pitch moves into a paid pilot to test the solution before wider use, and suppliers keep their intellectual property. It launched in 2020, first in Australia with partner Austmine, after an earlier version ran in BHP's Minerals Americas business.
BHP saved over AU$250,000 in training costs using Easygenerator microlearning, creating 2,900+ courses with 600+ internal authors and cutting production from months to days.

These are selected publicly described collaborations, not a complete procurement record or a measure of spending.
